Problem:

Staying connected

with the analog community

The analog journaling community is HUGE, international, and growing

(These arenโ€™t my journals;

they are examples of the craft!)

Stationery & journaling has been a thing in Asia for forever, but interest has exploded in the West over the past few years.

(Here are just a few of the US-based stationery

conventions started in the last 12 months!)

Outside of conventions and meetups, this community connects mostly over Instagram.

Obviously we hate supporting Meta

Weโ€™d all leave the platform if there was a realistic alternative for our community

But in addition to โ€œMeta sucks,โ€

Instagram the product has these problems too:

Generally speaking, this is why the analog community is on Instagram:

What we gain from Instagram:

๐Ÿ’– Sense of community

๐Ÿ’– A way to stay connected

๐Ÿ’– Journaling & stationery news,

products, ideas, inspiration

๐Ÿ’– Engaging visual content

Problems with Instagram:

๐Ÿ“ฑ Inspiration you never revisit

๐Ÿ“ฑ TOO MUCH CONTENT, feel behind

๐Ÿ“ฑ Feeling inadequate

๐Ÿ“ฑ Need a โ€œfollowingโ€ to be seen

๐Ÿ“ฑ On your phone when you wanna

be in your journal

Seeing these problems, I thought to myself:

I should make anInstagram alternative

for journalers

and by that I meant:

A paper magazine for stationery lovers

A paper magazine could solve all these problems!

Must an Instagram competitor be digital?
